Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression is an evidenced based treatment method that is highly effective. Through CBT, you will learn how depression works as part of the thought/feeling cycle. What you think drives what you feel, what you feel influences what you think. In depression, this creates a vicious cycle that is hard to break. What and how a person thinks starts in their belief system. We pick negative core beliefs up along the way, things like, I’m not good enough, I’m unlovable, I’m not safe, I’m treated unfairly, etc. that flavor one’s perspective. Counseling for depression will help you understand where those negative core beliefs come from, learn to asses them, and teach you to challenge and replace them with better ones.
There is more to building coping skills for depression than understanding it and minimizing it. You will also learn thought processes that create motivation, momentum, and a positive mindset. You will explore connecting to your purpose and how to move forward!
